Are you looking to treat black-grass in your arable crop? The Edlington WeedSwiper kit fits onto an existing sprayer so you can treat black-grass that has grown above your crop.
We talked to G Bartle & Sons who are using the WeedSwiper kit to treat black-grass in their crops.
They kindly allowed us to film their sprayer with a WeedSwiper kit fitted. You can watch the video below.
Philip Bartle explains that it takes two people, 15-20 minutes to fit the pad material onto the sprayer booms. He says that once fitted and tested, the sprayer’s average speed is 3 to 7k depending on the field conditions.
On the video, the WeedSwiper’s 20-litre tank contains 16 litres of glyphosate mixed on a 1:1 dilution. In normal conditions, Philip says the 16 litres of mixture treated 49 hectares and had a high rate of kill on the black-grass above the crop. To get this result, the sprayer went over the crop three times.
So, if you’re looking to treat black-grass in your crop, the best time for treatment is from May to June.
